Important Application Tips
Apply Early:
Completing your financial aid forms correctly and submitting them by the March 1 deadline
increases your potential to receive the maximum financial aid for which you are eligible. Late
applications will be considered on a funds available basis and will be processed in order of completion.
Panther ID Number:
You should receive your new Panthersoft ID via your FIU email address. A temporary password will allow you to
access FIU's new web-based student information system, Panthersoft. Please write your Panthersoft ID on all
correspondence. Significant processing delays will result if inaccurate or discrepant Panther ID numbers are reported.
Personal Identification Number (PIN):
Your FIU PIN number is needed to access personal information via the Voice Response System (VRS), web site,
or kiosks. If you do not have a PIN number, contact the Office of Registrar at (305)348-2320.
Mailing Address:
All financial aid correspondence and disbursements are mailed to the local address maintained by the
Office of the Registrar.
Report a change of address immediately to avoid unnecessary delays in the receipt of your aid.
Keep Good Records:
Make a file for your financial aid forms and correspondence. Photocopy all of your completed application materials
and your tax forms. It will take approximately six weeks to get copies from the IRS.
Respond Quickly:
If additional information is requested by the Federal Processor or the Financial Aid Office, respond quickly. A delay
in your response may jeopardize your eligibility for financial aid.
Follow Up:
Check with us periodically on the status of your application by checking your records on this web page or by
calling the Financial Aid (VRS) at (305)348-7272. You will be notified by mail once your file has been evaluated.
