Academic Merit Assistance:
The University's commitment to academic excellence is highlighted through programs which honor students
who are recognized as National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Finalists and National Hispanic Scholars.
Additional awards for outstanding high school seniors include the Presidential Scholars, Academic Excellence
Scholars, Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships. For detailed information regarding these programs

Graduate Assistance:
Graduate students pursuing a master or doctoral degree may qualify for assistantships, fellowships and other
awards offered through individual academic units. To apply, contact the Dean's Office of your college or
academic department. To inquire regarding additional graduate information contact the
Division of Graduate Studies Office.
Short-Term Tuition Loans:
This institutional loan is available to degree-seeking students, BEFORE the first week of classes, to
assist them in meeting the deadline for fee payment by providing a portion of the cost of tuition and fees
based on enrollment. The loan amount is prorated based on the student's enrollment status and grade level,
and must be repaid within 45 calendar days of the first day of classes. Applications are available BEFORE
the first week of classes.
Emergency Loan:
This institutional program is designed to assist degree-seeking students with unforeseen events that
are recognized as emergencies. All Emergency Loans must be accompanied with written documentation of expenses.
The maximum loan is $500 per semester and must be repaid within 45 calendar days.
