General Application Procedures
| • Submit the Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) to apply for Financial Aid www.fafsa.ed.gov by March 1 priority deadline. If you complete your financial aid file after the March 1 priority deadline, your file will be processed in order of completion date. | □

• Review TO Do items at: my.FIU.edu and submit any requested documents. | □

Eligibility/
| • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen | □
|
• Admitted to a degree seeking program or an eligible certificate program | □
|
• Enrolled at least half time (6 credits/undergraduates-5 credits/graduates) when loan proceeds are received | □
|
• Cannot be in a default status for any previous loans/grants. | □
|
• Applicant cannot have an adverse credit history (for Parent and Graduate Plus loans only) | □
|
• Male students are required to meet the Selective Service requirements. | □

Acceptance Procedures
| • Accept your "Offered" Award On-Line thru Panthersoft at my.FIU.edu at ACCEPT/DECLINE AWARDS, under Financial Aid. | □

When accepting your award, click on each award hyper-link to view the description and criteria. • Additional procedures for loan recipients: 1. First time FIU borrowers - Complete an Entrance Counseling Seminar for your particular loan type. 2. If you do not have a FAFSA PIN (personal id number) obtain one at www.pin.ed.gov for student/parent to sign the electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN). 3. If you are a first-time Federal Direct Loan borrower, using your Federal FAFSA PIN, complete and submit the electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) at: https://dlenote.ed.gov | □

| Important Reminders! |
• Complete the 08/09 FAFSA to receive aid for the Summer 2009. • Complete the 09/10 FAFSA to receive aid for the Fall 2009. • The FAFSA must be completed each year after January 1st, for the next academic year financial aid consideration. Classes will not be dropped for students that have pending aid (excluding Federal College Work Study) greater than their tuition costs. |
