Federal Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program, which includes Community Service Work Study, is a need-based federally funded student employment financial aid program awarded to students based on their Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid criteria. Students are hired by University departments to work between 10 - 20 hours per week. Students are eligible based on regulations established by Federal guidelines and by Florida International University in accordance with law, federal regulations are instructions issued by the U.S. Department of Education.

The objectives of the Federal Work-Study Program are to provide:
  • A source of financial aid to degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need.
  • College students who are in need of financial aid a chance to earn money while pursing their degree.
  • Work experience which enhances the participants' education whenever practical.
